1. The service

BookForge is a desktop app that orchestrates a book production pipeline, accompanied by a companion web service ("the server") that handles account management and product telemetry. Together they are "the Service", provided by Synaptrix AI ("we", "us").

2. Beta status

The Service is in private beta. This means:

• It's free while the beta lasts.
• Features may be added, changed, or removed without notice.
• Outages, bugs, and data loss are possible. Keep your own backups of anything important.
• There is no service-level agreement, uptime guarantee, or paid support during the beta.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. You're also responsible for any Claude Code / Anthropic API usage the app triggers on your machine — those costs are billed directly to your Anthropic account, never to us.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

• Break the law or facilitate illegal activity.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the server-side pipeline logic.
• Scrape, spam, or abuse the server endpoints.
• Share your account credentials with people outside your household or publishing team.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your content

You keep full ownership of your manuscripts, outlines, research, and any other content you create with BookForge. We claim no rights to your work. Because your manuscripts stay on your machine (see privacy), we physically can't republish or use them.

6. Our intellectual property

BookForge's software, skills, prompts, and orchestration logic are proprietary to Synaptrix AI. You may use the Service per these Terms but you don't receive any rights to the underlying software beyond that use.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" during the beta. We make no warranty, express or implied, about fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or accuracy of output. AI output should be reviewed by a human before it ships — that's literally what the app's review gates are for.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Synaptrix AI's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to €100 (or the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months, whichever is higher — and during the beta, that's €0).

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced to registered users before they take effect. Continued use after the change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
